Biographical note

Degree in Modern Languages and Literatures – French and English, with specializations in Scientific and Educational (Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, 2001).

M.A. in Mediation of American Culture (University of East Anglia, 2003). Thesis: “Information Manipulation and Hyperreality – Case Studies of Cultural Wars in the American 1980s”. It is a thesis on information management, specifically on the media(tiza)tion of arts funding policies in the transition from the 1960-70s to the 1980-90s in the U.S.

PhD candidate in Mediation of European Culture (University of Sussex). Dissertation: “European Union’s ‘glocal’ reconstruction through the lenses of Radical Democracy and Third Way politics. A post-structuralist, social semiotic analysis of discourses on European citizenship and identity in the British, French and Portuguese traditional and new media sphere, from 1999 to 2019”. This is a dissertation on the (re)construction of citizenship and European identity, based on the analysis of the speeches of opinion leaders involved in mediating major political-legal, socio-economic, and cultural aspects.

Researcher-researcher at CITCEM, in the Group Information, Communication and Digital Culture of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto.
